RJC volunteers and collaborators occasionally produce digital projects and other stories related to our work. We share these throughout our site and spotlight them here.

Projects

  • Digital Exhibition

This digital exhibition titled “Mob Violence and Racial Terror: The Lynching of Francis McIntosh” was developed by RJC and UMSL Digital Humanities to share more details and source materials related to the 1836 lynching of Francis McIntosh, and its local and national significance.

  • Short Film

In 2021 the coalition held a vigil for Francis McIntosh, led by coalition member Cheeraz Gorman. This short film documents aspects of the 1836 lynching and the vigil in April 2021. The film was produced through a course in the Museums, Heritage, and Public History program at UMSL.

  • Map

This digital map was developed by UMSL Digital Humanities to visualize sites listed in Dr. John A. Wright's book Discovering African American St. Louis: A Guide to Historic Sites, originally published in 1994 and updated in 2002. The guidebook counters neglect of the rich Black history of St. Louis dating back to the city’s founding in 1764.
